Cookie Policy
Last updated October 2026. This page explains the cookies and browser storage PeopleVio uses and how you can control them.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar browser storage (local storage) works the same way. They let a site remember things like whether you're signed in or which theme you prefer.
2. Cookies we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| authjs.session-token, authjs.csrf-token, authjs.callback-url | Essential | Keep you signed in to the PeopleVio portal and protect sign-in forms against forgery. | Session to 30 days |
| pv-cookie-consent (browser storage) | Essential | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies. | Until you clear it |
| theme, peoplevio:timeFormat (browser storage) | Preferences | Remembers light or dark mode and your 12- or 24-hour time format. | Until you clear it |
| _ga, _ga_<ID> (Google Analytics) | Analytics | Count visits and see which public pages are used, so we can improve the site. Not set in the signed-in portal, or if you reject non-essential cookies. | Up to 2 years |
| Google AdSense cookies (e.g. __gads, __gpi, IDE) | Marketing | Set by Google on blog articles to show and measure ads. If you reject non-essential cookies, ads are non-personalised. | Up to 13 months |
3. Analytics
We use Google Analytics on the public website — not inside the signed-in PeopleVio portal — to understand how many people visit and which pages they find useful. Google Analytics doesn't give us your name or contact details. If you reject non-essential cookies, Google Analytics is turned off for you. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
4. Advertising
Ads appear only on individual blog articles, served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can learn more in Google's advertising policy and manage personalised ads in Google Ad Settings. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland also see Google's own consent message.
5. Your choices
When you first visit, you can accept all cookies, reject non-essential ones, or choose by category under "Customize". Turning analytics off stops Google Analytics; turning marketing off makes ads on the blog non-personalised. Essential cookies are always on. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. You can also block cookies in your browser, but signing in to the portal needs essential cookies.
